About Us

Who are the Honeymooners?

We are couples in our late 20s and 30s.   When we started our class 7 years ago, we were we all young couples without kids.  Now, 7 years later, we have had almost 50 kids between us!  Needless to say, if you have a tiny one that is not quite ready for the nursery, feel free to bring them with you to class.  You won't be the only one standing and rocking while you listen to the lesson.  However, if you do drop your child in the nursery, they will be surrounded by other Honeymooner babies.

What is the format of the class?

We have no set format for our class.  We are very flexible when it comes to topics for class and have covered a WIDE variety of lessons.  Class topics range from from traditional bible studies, to a parenting series, to discussions of religion and politics.  Whatever the topic, there is sure to be lively discussion as we pride ourselves in diverse opinions and open and accepting minds.  Often times, we will cover a certain topic over a series of classes.  We have an education committee within our class that meets to discuss future lessons and we are always open to suggestions.

Are the Honeymooners involved in any mission activities?

As a class we are active with Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity, and different missions during the holidays.  Individually, the members of our class are very active within the church.  If you are interested in joining a FUMC committee or mission opportunity, chances are, you will find a Honeymooner right beside you.

Do you do any social activities outside of class?

Yes.  The woman have formed a dinner club that meets once a month at various local restaurants.  The men also get together from time to time.  We also have our annual men's reteat and women's retreat.  This past year the men spent the weekend in Port Aransas and the women spent the weekend on the lake in Marble Falls.    For those of you with young ones, some of us get together one morning a week for play group.

One of our favorite social activities is getting together with our "small groups".  Every six months, 3 or 4 couples are assigned to a new small group.  These groups meet once monthly in various settings.  This is an optional activity (as are all the social groups) but it is highly recommended.  It is an excellent way to get to know more about your fellow classmates.

How do I formally join the Honeymooners?

Ask anyone for the purple info sheet from our class folder.  Fill it out in class and hand it in to any one of us.  It's that simple.

Our class often communicates via email.  We have a class alias, a women's alias and a men's alias.  If you are interested in joining these groups, or have any other questions that were not answered on this page, please email us at admin@fumchoneymooners.org.

We hope to see you soon!
